Houthis claim new Saudi attacks amid renewed strikes

Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen claimed responsibility for new attacks on Saudi Arabia, including missile and drone strikes on a military base in the Najran region. Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, the Houthi military spokesperson, stated the strikes targeted a base in Sharurah province. Sirens were reported overnight in the area, though no casualties or damage were confirmed.

Separately, Iranian media reported a fatality after a ship strike in the Strait of Hormuz, though no direct Houthi claim was made for this incident. The attack occurred amid broader tensions, with a projectile landing in al-Tawwal governorate near the Saudi-Yemen border the night before the Houthi statement. The projectile injured two people and damaged a mosque and several buildings.

Saudi civil defense attributed the projectile attack in al-Tawwal to the Houthis, reinforcing the group’s claims of escalating operations against Saudi targets. The latest Houthi report, dated 2026, follows a period of renewed fighting in the region.
