Saudi Arabia shut down its East-West oil pipeline on Friday following drone attacks, the Saudi Energy Ministry confirmed. Satellite imagery and fire detection data revealed a 60-mile smoke plume and high-temperature readings along the pipeline route, indicating significant damage to the infrastructure.
The Saudi foreign ministry attributed the drone attacks to launches originating in Iraq. In response, an Iraqi military commander was dismissed on Saturday after investigations confirmed the attacks had been carried out from Iraqi territory.
