Former President Donald Trump proposed renaming the state of New Mexico to 'New America' in a series of social media posts.
The proposal was first reported by ABC News under the headline ‘Trump floats renaming New Mexico “New America”’ and later detailed by Forbes, which noted Trump made the suggestion in seven distinct posts.
New Mexico Democrats responded to Trump’s posts, though no official statement or further details on their position were immediately released.
